Problem

Phoenix Raceway needed a fresh helmet decal package for the new racing season. The core challenge wasn't visual, it was geometric: flat artwork doesn't wrap cleanly onto a curved helmet shell. Without a reliable way to map decals to the surface, designs end up distorted at the seams, misaligned, or unprintable at production scale.

Approach

I built a custom vector template from photo references and real-world helmet measurements so I could see exactly where each decal would land on the curve. With that scaffolding in place, I explored several directions using the Phoenix Raceway logo, brand colors, and motion-inspired striping, testing each against the template to confirm the artwork would wrap without breaking. The final direction used turquoise, yellow, and black for a high-contrast look that read at speed and tied back to the energy of Arizona racing.

Outcome

A production-ready helmet decal system that looked sharp in mockups, held to Phoenix Raceway's brand standards, and survived the jump from design to applied vinyl without compromise. The vector template I built became a reusable starting point for future curved-surface decal work at azpro.
